FAQ's

  • 1. Should I visit an Emergency Room or an Urgent Care?

This is one of the most difficult questions to answer. Some illnesses require immediate medical benefits of a hospital emergency room, however, in many cases an Urgent Care facility is a quicker and often more cost efficient alternative.

The lists below offer some guidance to what sort of treatment each type facilitates.

    EMERGENCY ROOM:

Chest pain with shortness of breath
    Severe burns
    Electrical shock
    Complications from pregnancy
    Altered mental states
    Seizure
    Poison ingestion
    Digit or extremity amputation
    Syncope or unconsciousness
    Major head injuries

    URGENT CARE:

Injury or Illness you would visit your primary care physician
    Non severe abdominal pain
    Laceration or cut repair (stitches)
Treatment of minor burns or skin irritations
    Cerumen (ear wax) impaction removal
    Drug testing
    School / work physicals
    Wart / skin tag removal
    Ingrown toenail treatment
    Travel immunizations
    Flu shots
Sports injuries such as sprains or strains
    Mild to Moderate Asthma attacks
    Upper respiratory illness

  • 2. Is it more expensive to visit an Urgent Care rather than an Emergency room?

Typically, the answer to this question is NO. More times than not, an Urgent Care is much less costly than a traditional hospital emergency room. Sometimes is can be a quarter to a third as expensive as the ER.

  • 3. When should I visit my primary care physician, rather than the Urgent Care?

An urgent care is not set up to be a replacement for your traditional primary care physician. However, Meadowbrook Urgent Care is an excellent option for your medical needs during those times when you cannot get into your primary care physician in a timely manner, or at a time when the primary care physician's office is not open, such as after hours, weekends and holidays. We will work closely with your primary care physician on a treatment plan specifically tailored to your medical needs.

  • 4. What is the normal wait time at Meadowbrook Urgent Care?

Wait times are very short. Unlike an emergency room, where wait times can be as much as 3-4 hours or more, Meadowbrook Urgent Care will typically see a patient within 15-20 minutes of their check-in. Most of the time these waits are even shorter.

  • 5. Do I have to make an appointment prior to coming in?

No. We encourage walk in visits. Also, you can do online registration with our Web Check-in. Visit our WEB CHECK-IN page to register.

  • 6. What forms of payment do you accept?

We work with most major insurances and we accept most forms of payment: cash, check or credit card (American Express, Mastercard and Visa).  Patients will be responsible for their insurance co-pay (varies by plan)

  • 7. What are the qualifications of the staff at Meadowbrook Urgent Care?

One of the greatest benefits to Meadowbrook Urgent Care (compared to our competition) is that our medical staff is comprised 100% by board certified physicians. Our doctors have many years of experience in treating your urgent medical needs. Please visit our “MEET THE DOCTORS”  page for  complete bios and information about our physicians.

  • 8. What are the hours of operation? Are you open on holidays?

We are open 364 days a year, including weekends and holidays.
